Generation of Pd–O\nfor Promoting Electrochemical\nH2O2 Production

Abstract

Electrochemical production of H2O2 via 2\nelectron (2e–) oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) represents\na promising route due to its safe, efficient, and decentralized process.\nHerein, using the extended surface of Pd with Cu electrodeposition\nas the model material, we identify that the introduction of Cu can\npromote the production of H2O2. With spectroscopic\ntools, we found that Cu stabilizes Pd–O and Pd–O improves\n2e– ORR activity of Pd site according to computation.\nAs a demonstration of a practical electrocatalyst, PdCu nanowire is\nsynthesized and shows nearly 100% selectivity and 1.866 mol g–1cat h–1 production rate\ntoward H2O2.
