In the centrosymmetric title compound, [Co(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·2H(2)O, the two Co(II) cations are bridged by pairs of pyridine-2,5-dicarboxyl-ate anions across an inversion center. Besides two pyridine-2,5-dicarboxyl-ate anions, one bidentate 2,2'-bipyridine and one water mol-ecule coordinate to the Co cation, completing a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. Within the dinuclear mol-ecule, π-π stacking occurs between parallel pyridine rings with centroid-centroid distances of 3.802 (2) Å. The crystal structure contains extensive O-H⋯O and weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and C-H⋯π inter-actions.
