Design of compactRIO-based acquisition system

Abstract

Data acquisition is one of the most important steps to construct a measurement system. This paper presents a data acquisition system using a laptop, a NI cRIO-9052 StarFabric interface and a cRIO-9102 reconfigurable chassis. It can sample, store and analyze digital signal, which can be expanded to multi-channels if necessary. The system is designed for extreme ruggedness, reliability, and low power consumption. We can interface with the FPGA inside of the reconfigurable chassis at rates up to 50MB/s. The result is a reconfigurable solution ideal for applications requiring the flexibility of the FPGA within CompactRIO and high bandwidth for high-channel-count applications.
