The Design and Implementation of Distributed Data Acquisition System Based on EtherCAT and CompactRIO

Abstract

In the present industrial field real-time data acquisition system, there are some major performance problems in Ethernet for real-time communication. Such as bandwidth utilization, synchronous accuracy, delay switch. Now, EtherCAT can effectively improve the performance problems about Ethernet real-time communication which those have discussed above. In industrial field, it is very important for data to be realtime processed, especially for levels of magnetic data in the engineering HIRFL-CSR (Heavy Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou-Cooling Storage Ring). These real-time acquisition and processing date have important reference value for design and research of HIRFL-CSR. In distributed real-time data acquisition system, EtherCAT technology has been introduced by Beckhoff of Germanic Company and data acquisition card of NI (National Instruments) plays a critical role in the data processing. In addition, recurring to NI cRIO (CompactRIO), the paper designs a comprehensive data acquisition system.<br/> &copy; 2016 IEEE.
