Design and development of CompactRIO based object sorting system using web services

Abstract

The significance of industrial process automation has rapidly increased in recent years. Sorting is a process in which two or more entities are separated. The sorting is done either manually or by using sensor and actuator. Authors have developed object sorting system using NI Compact Reconfigurable Input Output (cRIO) having Real Time/Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). Non-metallic objects on the conveyor belt are detected by proximity sensor then non-metallic objects are separated by using pneumatic cylinder. NI LabVIEW environment is used to get benefits of virtual instrumentation representation and analysis. LabVIEW Web Services enables the user in tracking the complete system. At the end, report document is generated.
