Abstract

Bromo(dibenzylsulfide)gold(I) and chloro(dibenzylsulfide) gold(I) crystallize isotypic with four formula units AuX · S(CH 2 C 6 H 5 ) 2 in the tetragonal space group P4 1 . The lattice constants are a = 1056.7(2), c = 1286.3(3) pm (X = Br) and a = 1046.2(3), c = 1288.5(6) pm (X = Cl), respectively. The structures consist of individual complexes in which each gold atom has a linear coordination of one halogen atom and the S atom of the Lewis base. These complexes are arranged along the screw axis 4 1 , forming an almost linear Au-Au chain with distances of 329 pm (X = Br) or 330 pm (X = Cl).
