Abstract

The cation of the title compound, [Ir(η5-C5Me5)Cl(C12H8N2)]CF3SO3, contains a half-sandwich (η5-C5Me5)IrIII fragment coordinated in a κ2N manner by the N atoms of a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand. The diimine ligand is inclined at an angle of 62.6 (4)° to the plane of the pentamethylcyclopentadienyl ligand.
