Unidirectional Lasing Emissions from CH3NH3PbBr3 Perovskite Microdisks

Abstract

Very recently, perovskite based microdisk\nlasers have attracted\nconsiderable research attention. However, most of the researches are\nfocused on the lasing spectra in bottom-up synthesized microdisks\nwith regular shapes. The directionality, which is also essential for\npractical applications, has not been explored. Here we demonstrate\nunidirectional lasing emissions from perovskite microdisks for the\nfirst time. We synthesized the rectangle-shaped microdisks connected\nwith straight waveguides and studied the lasing characteristics, where\nunidirectional emissions along the waveguides have been observed.\nNumerical calculations reveal that the unidirectional emissions are\nformed by the breaking of total internal reflections at the joints\nbetween waveguides and microdisks. Since waveguides are compatible\nwith other photonic elements, we believe that our finding will be\nessential for the applications of perovskite microdisks in integrated\nphotonic circuits and networks.
