Abstract

Department of Chemistry, Punjabi University, Patiala-147 002, Punjab, India E-mail : [email protected] Manuscript received 08 June 2011, revised 10 May 2012, accepted 11 July 2012 The coordination compounds of CuII halides were synthesized by electrolyzing the aqueous solution (1 : 1 mixture of conductivity water and rectified spirit) of halogen (chlorine, bromine or iodine) and ligand (1,10-phenanthroline, 2,2' -bipyridyl or pyridine) at sacrificial copper anode and inert platinum cathode. All these products have been characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectral data and other physical methods. Current efficiencies of all these systems are quite high.
