This essay has not as its main aim to dissect the species Oddyssey's scientific truth. On the contrary, it explores the interrelationships generated by the social responsibility of scientific outreach. Far from the naive and neutral scientific consideration, outreach participates in the configuration of reality in a concrete sense. Scientific outreach, thus, is now a powerful tool for its social value as a provider of security by legitimising a specific manner of 'being-in-the-world'.
