Palladium-Catalyzed Decarbonylative Sonogashira Coupling\nof Terminal Alkynes with Carboxylic Acids

Abstract

A direct\ndecarbonylative Sonogashira coupling of terminal alkynes\nwith carboxylic acids was achieved through palladium catalysis. This\nreaction did not use overstoichiometric oxidants, thus overcoming\nthe homocoupling issue of terminal alkynes. Under the reaction conditions,\na wide range of carboxylic acids including those bioactive ones could\ncouple readily with various terminal alkynes, thus providing a relative\ngeneral method for preparing internal alkynes.
