This research aims to explore the concept of religious moderation in Ibn Kathir's interpretation of verse Al-Baqarah (2:256) through a literature study research method. This verse states, "There is no compulsion in religion," and serves as a focal point in understanding Ibn Kathir's approach to this issue. The research method involves an analysis of Ibn Kathir's written works, with an emphasis on his commentary on this verse. Data is gathered from relevant literature sources, including classical commentary books and secondary literature that delve into Ibn Kathir's thoughts on moderation in religion. The findings of this research indicate that Ibn Kathir emphasizes the importance of religious moderation as a fundamental principle in Islam. This concept encompasses tolerance, justice, and modesty. Ibn Kathir explains that Islam encourages its followers to live in harmony with people of different beliefs and to respect human rights. In his commentary, Ibn Kathir also underscores the need to avoid extremism and promote social justice.
