The study aimed to understand the approach to mathematical tasks in a Mathematics textbook for teaching tables and graphs in high school. For the selection and analysis of tasks, we utilized the contributions of Ponte (2005), Stein and Smith (2009), Barbosa (2013), and Costa, Oliveira, and Silva (2017). This research was conducted based on a qualitative study, seeking to identify the importance of the teacher's role in this process. The study highlighted the importance of the teacher considering the aspects analyzed here before proposing tasks to students, taking into account the application and reformulation of mathematical tasks for meaningful learning of graph and table concepts, which can directly affect the implementation of activities, ensuring student engagement. We also emphasize the contributions of this work to teachers who aim to develop investigative activities in their classes.
