Age for Relay Cooperative Energy Harvesting Networks with Finite Blocklength Transmission

Abstract

In this work, an earliest relay selection strategy is presented to minish the age of information (AoI) for finite blocklength transmission based energy harvesting IoT networks with multiple relays. Firstly, the decoding error rate is presented for both hops under selection combining scheme. Then, the statistical characteristics of the energy harvesting period and maximum transmission times are provided. Finally, the average AoI expression is derived and analyzed. Numerical experiment indicates that it can always identify the best packet length and selected relay number to minimize the average AoI.
