Dual-Polarized Bandpass Angle-Selective Surface Based on Three-Layer Frequency Selective Surfaces

Abstract

This paper presents a dual-polarized bandpass angle-selective surface based on three layers of frequency-selective surfaces. The top and bottom layers are identical, while the middle layer can be different. By properly designing the thickness of the air spacers between three FSS layers, the ASS can achieve a bandpass performance at any incident angle for both TE- and TM-polarizations. A bandpass ASS based on the complementary hexagon resonance is proposed. Simulation results show that the bandpass performance is achieved from 9.8 to 10.2 GHz. Besides, the passband $(\vert \mathrm{S}_{21}\vert > -1\ \text{dB})$ at 30°, and the stopband $(\vert \mathrm{S}_{21}\vert < -20$ dB) within the range from 0° to 8° and 38° to 70° are obtained for both TE- and TM-polarizations.
