Abstract

Objective:The objective was to analyze, in the literature, the benefits of using early intervention after the diagnosis of children with ASD.Methodology: This is an integrative review in which the following databases were used: Latin American and Caribbean Center on Health Sciences Information (BIREME), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO) and Virtual Health Library (BVS).For a complementary search, the journal Research, Society and Development was used, in addition to websites of government agencies.For the search, a combination of descriptors was used: "Autism Spectrum Disorder", "early intervention", and "child", ordered by the Boolean operator AND.Inclusion criteria were defined as: studies published in the last five years (2018-2022) and that were directly related to the theme, fully available free of charge and in English and Portuguese.Exclusion criteria were: systematic review studies, incomplete articles, dissertations and monographs.A total of 656 articles were found, of which ten were selected for the study after applying the filters and criteria.Results and Discussion: Due to the chronicity and high prevalence of ASD in children, it is notable that there should be an early intervention in the first months of life.It should be noted that children with ASD exposed to intervention programs before the age of five have a better prognosis than those who receive treatment later.In view of the above, there are several benefits of early intervention, but the main ones that we can mention are: greater learning capacity and cognitive functions, language skills, reduction of ASD symptoms, a better response in the adaptation and socialization of this child and reduction of the repetitive behaviors.Conclusion: It is concluded that the benefits of early interventions are many, both clinical and educational.Thus, with each intervention with this child, it is recommended to stimulate an area that is affected, with this, it is possible to generate significant results over time.
