Cascade PI Constant Current Regulator for High Power Infrared Laser Diode Bars

Abstract

In this study, an enhanced compensation control network was analysed and implemented to prove a better stability and efficiency for constant current driver circuits used in powering one 808nm laser diode bar. The cascade PI loop was studied and it has shown an improved system stability, being able to provide higher intensity currents in environments prone to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) perturbing. Hence, a better operation of continuous wave infrared laser diodes can be achieved based on this loop configuration. However, this regulator results in a higher complexity electric circuit in contrast to available solutions.
