Enhancing citizens' well-being using a gait monitoring smart wearable device

Abstract

Advances in technology have always been a determining factor that marked significant changes in the course of humanity with multiple effects on several different areas. From simple everyday things like a watch to entire cities tend to become smart and this way people's lives become safer and healthier. For this reason, Smart Insole was developed, an innovative, smart system that monitors the person's gait and is used to detect a fall and inform the appropriate authority. This paper presents the architecture of the system and emphasizes the laboratory tests that were conducted and emulated real-world use cases for the developed system.
