IDENTITAS MANUSIA DI RUANG KOTA DALAM DUA CERPEN KALIMANTAN TIMUR TAHUN 1980-AN

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui identitas manusia yang terdapat di ruang kota dalam dua cerpen Kalimantan Timur tahun 1980-an. Kedua cepen tersebut berjudul Selamat Tinggal Kegelapan” karya Herman S (26 Oktober 1988), dan “Ketika Malam Semakin Menanjak” karya Ch Iskandar (4 Januari 1989). Dengan teori sosiologi sastra, penelitian ini menganalisis berbagai bentuk identitas tokoh yang terjadi dalam relasi tokoh dengan lingkungannya. Analisis menunjukkan bahwa identitas yang terjadi pada kedua cerpen tersebut berupa tokoh yang melakukan pertahanan eksistensi dan keterasingan identitas di ruang kota. Di ruang kota tokoh melakukan pertahanan eksistensi dengan mengambil identitas yang berkaitan dengan kriminal. Perubahan identitas ke arah positif terjadi ketika tokoh menyadari bahwa pekerjaannya merugikan orang lain. Analisis juga menunjukkan tokoh yang mengalami keterasingan identitas karena kehilangan semua identitas terdahulu. Hal tersebut mengakibatkan kelas sosial tokoh menjadi rendah. Dua cerpen tersebut menunjukkan posisi manusia di ruang kota yang diketahui melalui bentuk identias manusia tersebut. Kata kunci: identitas, eksistensi, keterasingan AbstractThis study aims to determine human identity in urban spaces in two East Kalimantan short stories in the 1980s. The short stories are Herman S’ “Selamat Datang Kegelapan” October 26th, 1988) and Ch Iskandar's “Ketika Malam Semakin Menanjak” (January 4th, 1989). This study analyzes numerous forms of characters’ identity in the character's elationship with his environment using sociological literary theory.The analysis reveals that in those two short stories the identity is in the form of a character who defends the existence and alienation of identity in urban space. In the city space, the character performs the defense of his existency by having identities related to criminals. A positive change of identity occurs when people realize that what they do is disadvantageous to others. The analysis also shows characters who experience identity alienation because of their lost previous identities. This brings about the social class of the character to be low. Those short stories show human position in urban spaces through these forms of human identity. Keywords: identity, existence, alienation
