Abstract

Being one of the most frequently found species in nature, porphyrins have been used as linkers, giving rise to porphyrinic metal-organic frameworks (PMOFs). Porphyrin ligands have good chemical stability, thermal stability and optical properties, combined with the porosity of PMOFs themselves, which endows PMOFs as a heterogeneous catalyst to exhibit distinct properties in catalytic reactions. Meanwhile, porphyrins can accommodate vairous elements in the periodic table, ranging from transition metals to main group elements, and therefore, the catalytic functionalities of MOFs can be easily realized by modulating the central atoms within the porphyrin macrocycles. Platinum-group metalloporphyrins display excellent catalytic performances in photocatalysis, carbene/nitrene transfer and small molecule activation, and the resultant PMOFs based on platinum-group metalloporphyrins can be of great potentials in the heterogeneous catalytic field. This review summarizes the synthetic strategies, structures and catalytic applications of platinum-group metals-based PMOFs.
