Abstract

Platinum group metals (Ru, Os, Rh, Ir, Pd, and Pt) exhibit a wide range of stable oxidation states, coordination geometries, and tunable ligand exchange kinetics and interesting electronic properties. These properties give rise to a wide range of applications in the fields of catalysis, biomedicine, sensing, and light-harvesting processes, among others. This chapter will highlight the strategies for the synthesis of platinum group metal containing metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). The resulting materials couple the unique properties of the platinum group metals to the porous nature of MOFs giving rise to unique platforms for the development of advanced porous materials.
