Abstract This chapter starts with a general presentation of the case system of Old Norse, pointing out the semantic and syntactic properties of the four cases of the language. There is one section presenting a systematic overview of the inflections of nouns, demonstratives and quantifiers, pronouns, and adjectives. There are different forms for the case- and number-endings for nouns, demonstratives, and adjectives, besides a strong/weak opposition in the adjectival declensions, reflecting a definiteness opposition. There are two sections on verbs: one dealing with the formation of the strong and weak verb stems, and one with the person/number inflections of the different stems in various tenses and moods.
