Abstract This chapter provides a comparative overview of Romance inflectional morphology of the nominal and verbal domains. It covers the distinction between roots, stems and inflectional endings; patterns of allomorphy; syncretisms; extended and cumulative patterns of grammatical exponence; suppletion; empty morphs and their distribution; the major distinctions between nominal and verbal paradigms; tense (synthetic future and conditional), aspect, mood (imperative and subjunctive), person and number marking on verbs; gender, number and case marking on nouns and adjectives; inflection classes (neutralization and creation)s; diachronic conservatism; cross-linguistic unity and disunity; non-finite forms; infinitives; gerunds; inflected non-finite forms; productivity.
