One of the guidelines of Primary Health Care (ABS) in Brazil is the person's first contact with the health system. Access or accessibility is an essential attribute of ABS that has been poorly assessed in Brazilian surveys using the Primary Care Assessment Tool (PCATool). The scheduling system certainly influences access in health units, and the model for advanced access (AA) has been implemented in Brazil, and has been getting better results than traditional scheduling models. The objective of the present study is to understand the perception of professionals who work in a basic health unit in Uberlândia-MG (Centro de Saúde Escola Jaraguá) about the implementation of AA. It is a qualitative study that used the focus group and content analysis, in which the following thematic units were delimited: Challenges in the consolidation of ABS and investment in minimal teams; Tensions regarding the increase in the demand for individual assistance and work overload; Education and health: necessary intersections between teaching, service, management and community. It was concluded that CEJAR presented particularities with the implementation of AA for being a teaching unit, for not having a consolidated Family Health Strategy (FHS) and for the work overload resulting from this agenda, which can contribute to the planning of other teams that are interested in AA.
