BOOK-CHAPTER

MOF-based Electrochemical Sensors for Pesticides

Abstract

The intensive use of pesticides in agricultural practices has promoted the appearance of environmental and public health problems. Electrochemical sensors are promising devices for the detection of pesticides because of their simplicity, low cost, portability, and easy operation. In the past few years, metal-organic frameworks have been used increasingly to construct electrochemical sensors for pesticides, owing to their outstanding physicochemical properties such as high specific area, good stability, excellent catalytic activity, fast response time, facile design, and functionalization, and so on. This chapter will outline some recent progress in the metal-organic framework-based electrochemical sensing of pesticides. The different types of electrochemical sensors are outlined according to the different electrochemical techniques. In addition, the present challenges and future perspectives are put forward.
