Abstract

This paper presents a thick origami based foldable patch antenna array with a packing efficiency of 50%. The array is designed on low-cost FR4 substrate having a thickness of 1.5 mm and an overall dimension of 180 mm × 96 mm. The peak gain at broadside is approximately 6.3 dB. The array is capable to reconfigure to a compressed form factor making it suitable for efficient packing and deployment applications.
