A Printed MWCNTs/PDMS Based Flexible Resistive Temperature Detector

Abstract

A multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)/polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) composite based resistive temperature detector (RTD) was developed for temperature measurements. The homogenous mixture of MWCNTs/PDMS composite was prepared by magnetic stirring and sonication process. The RTD was fabricated by depositing silver (Ag) on Kapton ® polyimide substrate using screen printing process and MWCNTs/PDMS composite on Ag/Kapton using bar coating process. The capability of the RTD was investigated by subjecting it to different temperatures varying from -20 °C to 50 °C. The response demonstrated an overall resistance change of ~20% for temperatures ranging from -20 °C to 50 °C.
