Sensor node in the wireless sensor network are battery constrained as well as the energy in it is minimal. As sensor nodes are required to sense the environment conditions like temperature, humidity etc. Since Sensor node continuously sense data most of the energy is used for sensing and collection of data. Energy consumption is a major research problem in WSN. Major setup in clustering is formation of cluster which is done on the basis of received signal strength of the nodes. When clustering is done and data is transmitted most of the times nods that are deployed are very close to each other that and sense same data which is unnecessary. The energy is mostly wasted by huge number of inactive nodes. This work aims at evaluating the WSN and proposing a cluster-based approach to reduce the energy demand of the sensor node by avoiding redundant information transfer to the cluster controller and each node should transmit data in particular time slot in order to avoid collision This research work uses the NS3 for evaluation purpose and the performance metrics as throughout, packet delivery ratio, energy consumption and delay.
