A Compact Ultra-wideband Directional Dipole Antenna with Wide Beamwidth

Abstract

A compact ultra-wideband directional dipole antenna with wide beamwidth is presented in this paper. The proposed antenna, designed on a RLC PCB, is composed of a bent dipole, feeding structures and a reflector. The RLC PCB is fixed at the middle of the bent dipole which is connected with the reflector. The proposed antenna features the advantages such as miniaturization (0.2λ × 0.1λ × 0.07λ) and wide impedance bandwidth. A 6 :1 working bandwidth (starting frequency is 100 MHz) is achieved. The beamwidth of the proposed antenna is larger than 90°.
