In recent years research has been devoted to the variables that determine academic achievement within the different educational levels. Many researches place reading and reading habit as one of the variables that most favor academic results. This fact contrasts with the data on reading habits in Spain, being worrisome the percentage of young people and college students who show no interest in reading. In this paper we discuss the importance of promoting reading at all educational levels, especially in the university context.
