Abstract

Abstract The principles of integrative nursing provide a framework to guide the practice of nursing in a way that aligns our beliefs and values with actions and therapeutic strategies. When conceptualized from an integrative approach to care, nurses support the person’s innate capacity to heal by providing care based on symptom severity, physiologic response, the patient’s condition, patient/family needs and preferences, and available resources. This chapter describes whole-person/whole-systems assessment that focuses on health and wellbeing, clinical decision-making, and methods to apply the full range of therapeutic interventions to weave together a way of being-knowing-doing that honors nursing’s traditions and prepares them to lead integrative healthcare delivery models.
