Dual-band Notched Ultra-Wideband Microstrip Antenna with Integrated Bluetooth band

Abstract

In this paper, a novel design of ultra-wide band microstrip antenna with dual-band notched at WiMAX and WLAN bands is presented. The proposed antenna consists of a patch antenna, three gradual steps connected to the end of the feed line and a partial ground plane with a trapezoidal slit. Two U-shaped slots were etched on the antenna to reject the WLAN band with a sharp rejection at the start of the band. A coupled C-shaped resonator was placed along the microstrip feed line to reject the WiMAX band. Also, the antenna supports the Bluetooth operating band. The fabricated antenna operates from 2.05 GHz to 14.01 GHz except at the notched WiMAX and WLAN bands. There is a good agreement between the simulated and the experimental results.
