Broadband Slotted Ground Square Patch Microstrip Antenna for Wireless Applications

Abstract

This manuscript presents a slotted ground technique which is adopted to augment the bandwidth, it also reduces the size of microstrip antenna in comparison to conventional patch antenna. The technique of loading slots is used in this manuscript. The slots of suitable dimension at optimized location on the ground plane in association of patch gives rise two TM 10 modes that are excited at two close frequencies which in turn increases the impedance bandwidth. This antenna offers a −10dB impedance bandwidth from 1.32GHz-2.69GHz nearly 68% with respect to middle frequency 2.00 GHz. The gain variation is almost constant in the entire band. The other antenna parameters are also favorable, which make this antenna structures as an excellent choice for LTE, WLAN and WiMax applications.
