Broadband microstrip patch antenna for wireless applications

Abstract

In this paper, broadband patch microstrip antenna is investigated. The goal is to meet the demands on wireless communication systems where there is a substantial need for new antennas, which are light, low profile and low cost. Microstrip patch antenna constitutes a best candidate in this area. However, these antennas are characterized by the limitation of their bandwidth that is of order 1–2%. In wireless system, this band is not enough sufficient for a high rate data transmission. To overcome this problem, a new antenna is presented in this paper.
