Abstract

In this paper, a low-profile dual-polarized aperture-coupled microstrip patch antenna is presented. The antenna is well suited for Ka-band active phased array systems requiring wide-angle scanning. The simulated VSWR of the antenna exhibits an impedance bandwidth of over 23.5% and the isolation between the two ports is better than 35 dB over the bandwidth. The cross-polarization levels in both E- and H-plane are better than -20 dB. Also, the center embedded antenna element in the array can scan up to 60 degree from boresight in both the principal planes from 31.5 to 38 GHz.
