Antenna miniaturization using disc slot and split ring

Abstract

Antenna miniaturization fed by microstrip line, using disc slot have been addressed in this present work. The antenna topologies are considered on disc slot on either end of the slot and disc slot on fed side and opposite to the fed side keeping the slot unaltered. The proposed antennas are realized more than 45% reduction of resonant frequency compare to the reference antenna topology. In addition to that, it is also possible to further reduce the resonant frequency with proper integration of disc slot and split ring (SR). It is found that the resonant frequency of reference and combination of disc slot and split ring loaded antennas are 2.05 GHz and 0.72 GHz respectively which exhibits in 64.87% miniaturization. We have also observed the radiation pattern, improvement of -10dB bandwidth, input impedance plot, H-field plot, and efficiency for each antenna topology.
