Abstract

Our research is framed within the area of Translation and Interpreting (ti) studies and more specifically within the field of the didactics of Audiovisual Translation (avt). It is an empirical and descriptive study of the didactics of av t at university level in Spain. The main aim of this research is to provide real, reliable data on university training in av tand on the professional market requirements of this sector in Spain. To achieve this, we have worked in collaboration with teachers, translators and employers and have identified the profiles of these three popula-tion groups. We have also investigated the skills needed by translators of audiovisual texts, reflected on the role of technology in av t training, and discussed the most appropriate methodology to teach avt in order to come up with proposals aimed at improving training in avt.
