Ultra-wideband polarization conversion metasurface

Abstract

In this letter, a novel ultra-thin polarization conversion metasurface (PCM) that efficiently rotates linear polarization of electromagnetic waves is presented. The proposed PCM is consist of fish-bone shaped resonators. By the design with five resonances of the PCM unit cell, an ultra-wideband cross-polarization reflection is achieved. The simulation results show that the proposed PCM can realize more than 93% polarization conversion ratio (PCR) from 7.1GHz to 23.2GHz under both x-and y-polarized normal incidence. Compare to the published designs, the proposed metasurface has a compact profile and simple geometry but a high performance, and can be used in many areas like reflector antennas, radar stealth.
