Priority-based resource allocation for OFDMA uplink with heterogeneous traffic

Abstract

Resource allocation for the uplink of OFDMA wireless networks is considered. In view of the distributed power constraints of the uplink, a low complexity resource allocation scheme for heterogeneous traffic is proposed. The scheme satisfies fixed-rate and variable-rate users via differentiated services. In the subcarrier allocation algorithm for fixed-rate users, a priority function based on user's channel state and power constraint is introduced to improve spectrum efficiency. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can exploit multiuser diversity, and approach good tradeoffs between performance and complexity, efficiency and fairness.
