Utility-based energy-efficient resource allocation in downlink heterogeneous OFDMA networks with mixed traffic

Abstract

In this paper, we proposed a utility-based energy-efficient (UEE) resource allocation algorithm in downlink OFDMA heterogeneous networks (HetNets) with mixed traffic. The resource allocation problem is formulated as a mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problem first. Then an iterative algorithm is proposed to optimize the resource block (RB) scheduling and power allocation alternatively, i.e., in every iteration, the heuristic RB scheduling scheme is conducted under the fixed power allocation, and then for the fixed RB scheduling, an efficient power allocation algorithm is designed. Simulation results show that our proposed algorithm can achieve better user fairness and user satisfaction than existing schemes.
