A compact super ultra-wideband (UWB) printed monopole antenna

Abstract

A compact super ultra-wideband (UWB) printed monopole antenna is proposed. A special-shaped radiation patch and modified ground plane with two bevel is used to achieve super ultra-wideband performance. It occupies a compact volume of 35 × 24 × 0.8 (672 mm 3 ) including the ground plane. The 10 dB impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is from 2.88 GHz to 96.5 GHz. The design and optimization has been carried out using the commercial software ANSYS HFSS version 14. The antenna has been designed on a FR-4 substrate having thickness 0.8 mm and dielectric constant 4.4. Good radiation patterns and gains within the operating band have been obtained.
