Enrique Gómez Carrillo en la red cosmopolita del modernismo

Abstract

Enrique Gómez Carrillo es un autor considerado ‘menor’ dentro del canon literario modernista. Su importancia como cronista, portavoz, periodista promotor y publicista del movimiento ha sido, sin embargo, muy relevante. El artículo analiza su función dentro de la red cosmopolita del modernismo, resaltando especialmente las revistas en las que colaboró (Mercure de France) o las que dirigió (El Nuevo Mercurio, Cosmópolis). Aunque sigue estando pendiente aún un estudio sociológico de la red publicitaria modernista con fundamento empírico, por falta de bases de datos suficientes, el siguiente artículo quiere dar un primer paso en esta dirección y enfocar desde esta perspectiva la obra de Gómez Carrillo. Abstract Enrique Gómez Carrillo is an author considered ‘minor’ within the literary canon of latin-american and spanish modernismo. His importance as a writer, journalist and advertising promoter of this aesthetic movement was, however, extremely important. The article analyzes his changing position within the cosmopolitan network of modernismo, especially highlighting the journals in which he collaborated (Mercure de France) or that he directed (El Nuevo Mercurio, Cosmópolis). Although a serious sociological study of the network of modernist printing culture in Latin America and Spain can’t still be realized due to the lack of sufficient data, the following article wants to take a first step in this direction and focus in this perspective the work of Gómez Carrillo.
