Abstract

Abstract The new compounds Ba 2 GeP 2 and Ba 2 GeAs 2 crystallize in the monoclinic system (space group P2 1 /c) with lattice constants: Ba 2 GeP 2 : a = 855.3 ± 0.5 pm, b = 951.5 ± 0.5 pm, c = 748.1 ± 0.5 pm, β = 105.95 ± 0.08°. Ba 2 GeAs 2 : a = 875.7 ± 0.5 pm, b = 970.0 ± 0.5 pm, c = 700.7 ± 0.5 pm, β = 100.03 ± 0.08'. There are characteristic isolated Ge 2 P 4 8- and Ge 2 As 4 8- anions, which are arranged in sheets.
