Two dimensional photonic crystal switches

Abstract

The transmission characteristics of two kinds of photonic crystal optical switches are studied. One is a photonic crystal waveguide with Kerr medium point defect, in which we achieves optimal switch effect by adjusting the light power and the radius of the defect. Another is a photonic crystal pump optical switch, in which the effect is simulated when the signal light is under control of a pump light.
