Bis(μ-4-sulfobenzoato-κ²O:O′)bis[aqua(2,2′-bipyridine-κ²N,N′)copper(II)]

Abstract

The title compound, [Cu2(C7H4O5S)2(C10H8N2)2(H2O)2], crystallizes as a centrosymmetrically dimer containing two CuII atoms bridged by two 4-sulfobenzoate ligands. Each CuII atom displays a square-pyramidal coordination geometry completed by three O atoms from one water mol­ecule and two 4-sulfobenzoate ligands and two N atoms from one 2,2′-bi­pyridine ligand. The dimers are linked into pairs by hydrogen bonds.
