Outage capacity analysis of resource allocation in downlink MIMO-OFDMA systems with the best-M feedback method

Abstract

Information theoretical outage capacity results for MIMO-OFDMA systems are expressed in this paper. So called best-M feedback is used for OFDMA resource allocation. Transmit antenna selection (AS) and space-time block coding (STBC) schemes as well as simple spatial division multiple access (SDMA) with zero forcing detection are analyzed. The outage capacity results are presented with practical imperfect feedback. Results indicate that significant capacity improvement can be achieved with the best-M feedback method and the practical resource fair round robin allocation. The proposed modified best-M feedback method provides further reduction of feedback overhead and also robustness against feedback bit errors.
