Abstract

This chapter address the 'how' of reflective learning by describing it in practical terms, indicating what it is, what it looks like in practice, and what is needed to enable it to take place in an organization. The need for ownership of the reflective process is vital for reflection on the learning process itself, particularly when moving towards the solitary practice of journal writing. The concept of emotional intelligence has emerged as a topic of focus in the UK in last ten years, offering the prospect of including feelings as part of the learn-ing process. The chapter describes reflective learning and summarized the requirements for it to take place in an organizational setting. Reflective learning includes all such experience as significant material for learning and offers space and place for acknowledging and contextualizing experience. Interactive learning on line offers some opportunity for learners to construct their own learning and this can become reflective learning if conditions for dialogue are present.
