Proportional fair resource allocation algorithm for video transmission in ofdma system

Abstract

In this paper, a proportional fair resource allocation algorithm is proposed for video transmission in OFDMA system. And we formulate maximizing the summation of logarithmic users' received video quality as the optimization problem for proportional fair resource allocation. In the algorithm, the proportional fair utility function is constructed, in which the usage efficiency of resource is determined by contribution of subcarrier to be allocated and fairness is achieved by considering accumulation of allocated subcarriers' contribution for each user. The proposed algorithm is implemented through searching optimal subcarrier can maximize the utility function so as to solve the problem formulated above. Comparing with other algorithms, we can get a better tradeoff between fairness and efficiency towards quality of users' received video in the proposed proportional fair resource allocation algorithm.
