Proportional fair resource allocation algorithm for video transmission in OFDMA relay system

Abstract

This paper addresses a proportional fair resource allocation algorithm for video transmission in OFDMA relay system. In the algorithm, the trade off between efficiency and fairness in quality of users' received video is made by maximizing summation of users' logarithmic accumulation of subcarriers' contribution for video transmission. And we construct proportional fair utility function by setting contribution of subcarrier to be allocated and accumulative contribution of allocated sub-carrers towards each user as it's numerator and denominator, respectively. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm is implemented through allocating subcarrier can make the proportional fair utility achieve maximum value on the basis of packet scheduling and relay selection. Compared with other fairness aware resource allocation algorithms for video transmission in OFDMA relay system, the proposed algorithm can achieve better balance between efficiency and fairness in quality of users' received video, which is demonstrated in the simulation.
