Rectangular Cavity Design for Permittivity Measurement at ISM 5.8GHz Radio Band

Abstract

In this paper, an optimization design procedure of a rectangular cavity for permittivity measurement at Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) 5.8GHz radio band is proposed. TE315 mode is selected to satisfy the perturbation condition for permittivity measurement in a cavity. The resonant mode analysis of the cavity has been presented. Position determination for the sample, the input and the output coupling devices is discussed using the traditional electromagnetic filed analysis by the help of computer simulation. The measurement results of the cavity demonstrate the effectiveness of this design procedure.
